The photograph above is of a beautiful piece of embroidery by our member, Jen Ford.
It was made in 2007, minus the words of course, and entitled, ‘Fabric Social’ when it was placed in an exhibition in Kingston that year. The theme was ‘Social Fabric’. When we chose the new name for our group, ‘Stitch Together’, Jen very kindly gave the control of the design to the group.
After some very clever manipulation, Jen’s granddaughter Rebecca, used it to design our new logo.
The Guildford Community Quilt – have you heard of the Guildford Community Quilt? Some of our members stitching recently at Guildford with members of the public, in conjunction with the new Guildford Community Quilt Project. They invited Guildford residents whatever their age or ability to capture their memories and hopes in pictures and words, from the past difficult months on a square, to form a quilt. Remember the Embroidered Pockets meeting recently, click here to see the pocket completed by Jacky Thomas and here is one by Laura Muir. Both ladies have given their permission to have the pockets shown here, and both pockets are copyright to the respective ladies!
